Gurgaon I January 26, 2010 I Innovation Mobile School
children
celebrated Republic Day in Badshahpur CRPF Camp area.
A Delhi based NGO; All India Citizens Alliance for Progress & Development
(AICAPD) is running mobile schools in NCR including Gurgaon vicinity.
Prof. S K Kapoor, former Secretary, Punjab National Bank was the chief Guest
during the function who hosted the flag. He called upon the parents to send
their children to these Mobile Schools who provides education at their door
steps free of cost. He added, " More than half of our country's nearly 200
million children aged between 6 and 14 do not complete even 8 years of
elementary education. In fact, they either do not enroll in school at all
or they drop out very early. Thus, situation is barely better for children
who do finish eight years of school - most have unacceptably low achievement
levels in language and mathematics. The challenges are immense : India is short of
1.2 million teachers, 42 million aged between 6 and 14 do not go to school,
roughly 16% of all villages do not have Primary school facilities and 17% schools
have just one teacher. He further said, " These Innovation Mobile Schools
can play an important role for deprived children as they send the teachers
to children's door steps.
On this occasion, Prof. Kapoor distributed stationery items
including books to the children and also awarded to some
children who won in different competitions and activities
organized by the mobile school during the function.
Prof. Kapoor thanked all the Mobile school/ AICAPD
team including teachers. On this occasion Mr. T S Sridhar,
Project Director, AICAPD and Mr. Sandeep Kr. Singh,
Member Secretary of AICAPD were also present.
